GOKHALE’S LEGACY – A SYMPOSIUM
In Association with
INDIAN COMMITTEE FOR CULTURAL FREEDOM
3rd Floor, Army & Navy Building, 148, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Mumbai 400001

‘Gokhale’s Legacy’, the Symposium organised by us in association with Project for Economic Education, Indian Secular Society and LiberalsIndia for Good Governance on November 15, is our tribute to Gopal Krishna Gokhale a great Indian, a great statesman, the kind of person we miss so very much in free India.
Like so many doyens of our freedom movement who gave their all to free India from foreign yoke and have been all but forgotten, we hazard the guess that few know that there existed a man called Gopal Krishna Gokhale whom Mahatma Gandhi acknowledged as his ‘political guru’.
To know more about him and also, in the shadow of his memory, to discuss the country’s political economy today particularly after the results of the last general elections to the Lok Sabha and more recently to the State Assemblies of Maharashtra and Haryana, we invite you to spend the day with us at the Alexandra Girls’ English Institution in downtown Mumbai and participate in this symposium.
Enclosed is a brief Background Note on the symposium and the programme for Saturday November 15.
As participation in this programme is by invitation please inform the undersigned over the phone or by email your response. Contact details have been provided in the last paragraph of the attached Background Note.
